Aon names Peiser Risk Capital CEO, a key role across reinsurance, ILS and capacity delivery

Global insurance and reinsurance broker Aon has announced that leader Joe Peiser has been appointed as the firm’s new CEO of Risk Capital, a role spanning across both commercial insurance and reinsurance broking responsibilities, with influence on insurance-linked securities and the mechanisms for delivery of risk capacity to support clients.Peiser has most recently been the CEO of Commercial Risk at Aon and the company said a search is underway for a replacement for that now vacant position. As CEO of Risk Capital, Peiser will lead Aon’s Risk Capital capabilities across both the Commercial Risk and Reinsurance Solutions divisions, and he will continue to report to Andy Marcell, CEO of Global Solutions.Aon said the appointment reflects its strategy to strengthen the ways it helps “clients navigate increasing volatility by connecting risk with the most efficient forms of capital.” Aon hopes the new structure will enable the firm to deliver solutions that leverage its market access, analytics and advisory capabilities across Risk Capital.

It’s a key leadership role in Aon’s structure and one that aims to bring together decisions and strategy around all forms of risk capital and their delivery, with a goal to help clients access the most suitable capacity sources, in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. As a result, this includes alternative capital markets and insurance-linked securities, as Aon increasingly looks to marshal efficient capital to meet its clients risk transfer needs.“Aon’s Risk Capital capabilities are essential to how we help clients navigate an increasingly complex risk environment,” commented Marcell.

“Joe’s deep industry experience, proven leadership and the trust he’s earned from clients globally make him a natural fit for the role. His appointment reflects the continued momentum of our Aon United strategy as we expand our capabilities to serve evolving client needs.” I’m honored to step into this Risk Capital role at such a pivotal time for our clients and our firm,” added Peiser.“Organizations are facing unprecedented complexity, and Aon’s ability to seamlessly connect expertise, analytics and diverse pools of capital is a true differentiator.

I’m excited to work with colleagues across all of our capabilities to deliver solutions that help clients make better decisions and create value.” Peiser has over 30 years of broking, risk consulting and advisory industry experience and has held senior positions across North America, the UK and Bermuda. He first joined Aon in 2021, becoming the Commercial Risk Leader for North America and then became the Global CEO of Commercial Risk in 2023.As CEO of Risk Capital, Peiser will be tasked with working closely with solution line and regional leaders at Aon, as well as its Aon Business Services unit with a goal to ultimately better connect clients with the firms capital ecosystem.

Aon said the appointment is aligned with its goal to help clients access the most optimal forms of capital, across insurance, reinsurance, parametric, insurance-linked securities and alternative capital markets. In addition, Aon sees its Risk Capital strategy as aligned with innovation in risk transfer instruments, trading and market-making capabilities. As the re/insurance market evolves, capital sourcing, formation, delivery and ultimately efficiency are key and Peiser’s new role will see him occupy a key strategic role across those disciplines for Aon..
