Acrisure Re, the reinsurance broking unit of the Acrisure group, has announced a key hire of relevance to the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market, appointing former BTG Pactual partner Nick Godfrey as its Head of Capital Markets.Godfrey’s new role will site within the Acrisure Re corporate advisory and solutions division (ARCAS) and will report to managing director, Ben Canagaretna.As Head of Capital Markets, Godfrey will take on responsibility for capital raising activities for Acrisure Re’s client base.This will include raising capital across insurance-linked securities (ILS) activities, as well as for Funds at Lloyd’s.

In the role, Godfrey will also support other M&A and balance-sheet engineering activities, the broking group said.Godfrey has 25 years of industry experience, with a significant focus on reinsurance capital markets, insurance markets and other third-party capital vehicles.He has held a range of risk owner, broker and board positions in global markets, working on multiple classes of business.

Previously, Godfrey co-founded the reinsurance proprietary investment arm of BTG which acquired Ariel Re.More recently, Godfrey has worked as a senior advisor at Barbican and Arch Re.Acrisure Re has also made some other key hires into this ARCAS operation, including: Nick Triggs as a non-executive board member and senior advisor, corporate advisory and solutions; Jonathan Zisaruk as Head of Legacy; and Lauren Johnson as Vice President of corporate advisory and solutions.
