Mar.17, 2021 – By Trent Victor, Waymo – We often hear that autonomous driving technology has the potential to make a dramatic difference in road safety, but until now there has not been a published scenario-based study that looks into how autonomous technology performs in scenarios that led to fatal crashes by human drivers.Waymo is pleased to release the results of a new study showing how the Waymo Driver likely would have performed in the majority of fatal crashes that occurred on the same roads.
The results are encouraging.
