Pillar Capital Management Limited, the Bermuda-based specialist collateralized reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager, has promoted Kevin Ronaldson to the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).Ronaldson, who is based in Bermuda and well-known in the insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment management industry, joined Pillar Capital Management in January this year.He joined the firm as its Deputy Chief Financial Officer, but has now been promoted to take on the Chief Financial Officer role, Ronaldson disclosed in a LinkedIn post.Ronaldson began his career in ILS and reinsurance linked investments back in 2008, when he moved to Bermuda and took on a hedge fund accounting role with Prime Management.

He became a senior fund accountant for the company, with a focus on hedge funds and reinsurance funds, where he assisted with net asset value calculations for ILS funds, analysing the range of instruments from collateralized reinsurance, through catastrophe bonds, sidecars and industry loss warranties (ILW).In 2013, Ronaldson joined the then Validus owned ILS investment unit AlphaCat Managers, working his way up from Financial Accountant to eventual become Chief Financial Officer of the unit in 2021.Then, in 2023, RenaissanceRe acquired the reinsurance units of Validus from its owner AIG, at which time Ronaldson transitioned over to become Head of Operations for the RenaissanceRe Capital Partners unit, where that reinsurance firm undertakes its third-party capital and ILS management activities.
