Acrisure Re, the reinsurance broking unit of the Acrisure group, has made another key Bermuda reinsurance and retrocession market hire, announcing the joining of Simon Arnott, a former employee of ILS fund manager Securis Investment Partners.Arnott has joined Acrisure Re in Bermuda as a senior vice president and will have a reinsurance and retrocession market focus.Arnott’s reinsurance market career began in the early 1990’s as an underwriter and he spent 16 years at Tokio Millennium Re.He joined ILS fund manager Securis in 2018, as Head of Origination for Bermuda and the US, then became the ILS manager’s Head of Business Development (Non-Life).
Arnott is based in Bermuda and will report to Clark Hontz, president of Acrisure Re Bermuda.The new role will see Arnott taking on responsibility for sourcing new business and expanding Acrisure Re’s property catastrophe and retrocession offerings.Arnott will also support the wider team in growing current accounts and developing long-lasting relationships across the reinsurance market.
Clark Hontz commented on Arnott’s hiring, “I am delighted to welcome Simon to the Bermuda team.His vast experience in structuring and pricing programs, extensive knowledge of the ILS market and broad network of global market relationships will significantly enhance our production capabilities and market insights.I look forward to working with him.” Acrisure Re also appointed Ian Wicks, as executive vice president in London, with a focus on casualty reinsurance.
He will report to partner Nigel Dane.Wicks joins Acrisure Re from Ed Broking where he was chairman of the non-marine reinsurance division and has also held roles at brokers including Harman, Wicks & Swayne, Willis Re, and JLT Re.Dane commented on Wicks joining, “I am so pleased to welcome Ian to our casualty team in London and look forward to working with him as we expand our footprint in third party lines.
