AXIS ILS hires Patrick Witteveen from Securis, confirms Freeman appointment

AXIS ILS, the insurance-linked securities and third-party reinsurance capital arm of global specialty player AXIS Capital, has announced the hire of former Securis Investment Partners executive Patrick Witteveen, who joins the unit as Head of AXIS ILS Business Development.The company has also confirmed , who joins the AXIS ILS unit as Head of ILS Structuring, Property.“We’re delighted to expand the AXIS ILS team and welcome Patrick and Kyle,” Chris Caponigro, Global Head of AXIS ILS explained.“With the addition of Patrick and Kyle, we are further enhancing our internal capabilities to service clients and investors and our presence in geographies that have a strong interest in ILS.

We are confident in our positioning as we develop the next phase of the evolution of AXIS ILS.” As Head of AXIS ILS Business Development, Witteveen will take on responsibility for leading the global business development of the third-party reinsurance capital management focused unit.This will include sourcing new investors and managing existing investor relationships.Witteveen has over 20 years’ experience in business development, raising third-party capital assets and institutional sales.

Most recently he held the role of Head of Investor Relations & Business Development at ILS specialist investment manager Securis Investment Partners.Witteveen will remain located in Zurich and his appointment is effective from February 1st 2022.Freeman, as Head of ILS Structuring, Property, takes responsibility for managing existing investor relationships and capital invested in property catastrophe sidecars, catastrophe bonds, joint ventures and other ILS or third-party reinsurance capital structures.
