Hudson Structured Capital Management (HSCM), the reinsurance, insurtech, insurance-linked securities (ILS) and transportation focused investment manager, has promoted Bernard Opoku, who currently serves as the firm’s Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer to Partner, alongside several other key promotions across the organisation.Opoku joined HSCM in 2018 as Vice President and Controller and has gone on to hold a number of progressively senior roles at the firm, including previous stints as Managing Director and Chief Accounting Officer, before later going on to become Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer in October 2023.As well as this, Opoku also leads HSCM’s finance function and helps strengthen the firm’s financial and operating foundation, which includes management reporting, analytics, and governance that support the investment platform across insurance and transportation.Prior to joining HSCM, Opoku spent six years at KPMG in Bermuda.
He joined the firm in 2012 as a Audit Senior, before later going on to become a Manager, and then eventually a Senior Manager, where he was a key member of the firm’s ILS practice during a pivotal period in the convergence of insurance and capital markets.Michael Millette, Managing Partner of HSCM, commented: “Bernard’s election to Partner reflects the leadership, rigor, and judgment he brings every day.He has been instrumental in strengthening our finance organization and elevating the analytical and governance frameworks that support HSCM’s strategy and long-term growth.” Beyond his professional role, HSCM also noted that Opoku is committed to community impact and talent development in Bermuda.
Throughout his time at HSCM, he has supported the organisation’s engagement with Future Leaders Bermuda, including initiatives that expand mentorship, exposure, and internship opportunities for Bermudian students.Moreover, HSCM has also implemented a number of promotions that the firm asserts acknowledge the contributions, leadership, and ongoing professional development of its team members throughout the organisation.This includes two key promotions within HSCM’s leadership team, with Smiti Tolani, who has been promoted from Vice President to Managing Director (effective upon obtaining the necessary work authorisation), and Brandon Barron, who has also been promoted from Vice President to Managing Director.
As well as this, HSCM also confirmed that Michael Wollmann has been promoted from Analyst to Associate, while both Sam Bridges and Scott Simon have been promoted from Associate to Senior Associate.Lastly, HSCM also announced that Abigail Mullins has been promoted from Associate to Vice President.“These promotions reflect both individual achievement and the collective strength and momentum of our organization.
