AHJ Miller, the reinsurance division of independent broking group Miller, has announced the hiring of Marlon Williams, a property catastrophe reinsurance underwriting specialist from Hiscox Re & ILS as a Senior Broker based in Bermuda.Williams has more than 20 years of insurance, reinsurance, catastrophe modelling, and international property catastrophe underwriting experience and had .At Hiscox, Williams led international property catastrophe reinsurance underwriting also had a focus on underwriting retrocession opportunities as well.Prior to joining Hiscox in 2020, Williams had spent 15 years working in the catastrophe practice at Markel Bermuda.

Part of that included working as a catastrophe analyst at Alterra Capital Holdings, a re/insurance company which Markel acquired in 2013.Williams had also spent some of his early career working in alternative risk transfer at the Alea Group in Bermuda.Williams will report to Charlie Simpson, Head of Miller Bermuda.

His focus will be on the placement of reinsurance and retrocessional business into the Bermuda market.Williams will have responsibility for new business generation and also be tasked with bolstering AHJ Miller’s property cat capabilities as the broker expands its reinsurance offering on the island.Charlie Simpson, Head of Miller Bermuda, said, “Marlon’s appointment is another positive milestone in the expansion of our Bermuda team.
