Markel promotes Nikki-Lynn Marshall to Head of ILS

Markel, the global specialty insurer, has promoted Nikki-Lynn Marshall to the role of Head of insurance-linked securities (ILS), after just six months in her previous role with the firm.At this time, we aren’t aware of any specific details that have been announced in regard to what Marshall’s responsibilities will be within her new role as Head of ILS.However, we assume that she will serve as a conduit between Markel, its various business units, its ILS manager Nephila Capital, and the rest of the market, to lead on strategic initiatives and business development.Based in Bermuda, Marshall has been with Markel since October 2022.

She initially joined the firm as a Director of Underwriting, and was later promoted to Senior Director, Strategic Transactions in January of this year.Previously, Marshall spent four years at Hudson Structured Capital Management Ltd.(HSCM), the reinsurance, insurtech, ILS and transportation focused investment manager, where she served as the firm’s Vice President between October 2018 to January 2022, gaining broad market experience.
