Ledger Investing hires Brad Fischtrom from AIG as Chief Operating Officer

Ledger Investing, an insurance technology (insurtech) and insurance-linked securities (ILS) venture-backed start-up, has made a key hire in taking AIG’s Chief Risk Officer for North America General Insurance, Brad Fischtrom as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).Ledger Investing launched in 2016 with a goal to create a business-to-business marketplace for the securitisation of insurance risk, leveraging analytics and technology to enable greater transparency and understanding of risk and capital flows, to make a diverse range of risks more appealing to capital market investors.The start-up later that year and raised $5 million of seed funding in 2017 as it began its mission to enhance the way insurance and reinsurance companies fund their risks, using securitisation and technology.Ledger Investing’s first transaction was , between an MGA and the AIG-owned insurance-linked securities (ILS) fund manager AlphaCat in early 2019.

Now, the start-up has made an important hire as it looks to leverage its technology platform to enable insurance and reinsurance companies to recognise capital efficiencies across portfolios of insurance risks, while delivering diversifying, stable returns for institutional investors that back the portfolios.Brad Fischtrom spent 10 years with insurance giant AIG, focusing on enterprise risk management (ERM) and working his way up through the organisation to become Chief Risk Officer, North America General Insurance.Prior to joining AIG, Fischtrom spent almost 3 years at Towers Watson, in a role again focused on ERM, before which he worked at Aon for 4 years, broking and managing books of business from across the insurance spectrum.
