Obra Capital promotes Polanskyj to Chief Investment Officer

Obra Capital, an alternative asset manager that invests across a range of insurance-linked opportunities in life, annuity, property and casualty risks, has announced the promotion of Peter Polanskyj to Chief Investment Officer.Prior to this promotion, Polanskyj was Obra Capital’s Senior Managing Director and Head of Structured Credit.Polanskyj joined Obra in 2022, playing a key role in its leadership team, working to help guide and execute the investment manager’s growth strategy and develop its platform and product set.Obra Capital makes its investments into insurance and reinsurance opportunities via an Insurance Special Situations strategy, which includes a P&C and specialty focus, as well as into longevity insurance positions through life settlement opportunities.

The company also manages investments in other securitized products and credit opportunities.In his time at Obra Capital, Polanskyj has helped the company achieve a net growth rate for the insurance special situations strategy that has outpaced the firm’s initial expectations, the company said.In his new role as CIO, Polanskyj will chair Obra’s Investment Committee, with oversight of the firm’s operations across its portfolio.

Before joining Obra, Polanskyj was a Managing Director and Head of U.S.CLO Management at Sculptor Capital (formerly known as Och-Ziff), where he led the CLO and similarly structured products business from inception in 2012 to approximately $15 billion in assets in 2022.Earlier in his career was a reinsurance actuary with a focus on property and casualty risks.
