Swiss Re hires former NB/Cartesian ILS exec Mixon for ACP business development

Global reinsurance firm Swiss Re has made a new business development hire within its Alternative Capital Partners (ACP) division, appointing experienced insurance-linked securities (ILS) executive Charles Mixon as Senior Business Development Manager.Mixon’s background is in capital markets and alternative investments, with a number of recent positions that saw him working on the operations, business development and fund-raising sides of insurance-linked securities (ILS) specialists.This month Mixon has joined Swiss Re’s Alternative Capital Partners (ACP), which is the division that houses the reinsurers alternative capital, catastrophe bond and ILS initiatives.Mixon’s new title is Senior Business Development Manager, Alternative Capital Partners.

His career has seen him work across insurance, reinsurance, ILS and capital market investing, with his most recent position being one of Managing Director within the insurance department at Cohen & Company Asset Management.Mixon spent over two years at Cohen & Co., prior to which he was at investment firm Neuberger Berman, focused on insurance-linked securities (ILS).Mixon joined Neuberger Berman when that company acquired his employer .

In total, Mixon spent over 9 years working at Cartesian Re and then over 2 years at Neuberger Berman with that ILS team, in Managing Director roles.Prior to that, he worked at Cartesian Group where he focused on global private equity and before that at insurer AIG, where he also had a private equity investments focus.Mixon brings significant experience in both capital raising and investment operations to Swiss Re’s Alternative Capital Partners (ACP) unit..
