Broker Guy Carpenter has announced the appointment of Al Paas as Head of European Capital & Advisory, who joins the firm with extensive experience in capital markets and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) advisory.Commenting on Paas’ appointment, Laurent Rousseau, CEO of Guy Carpenter’s Global Capital Solutions business, said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Al Paas as Head of European Capital & Advisory at Guy Carpenter.“With extensive experience in capital markets and M&A advisory, Al will lead our efforts to expand and strengthen our investment banking capabilities across Continental Europe.His leadership comes at a pivotal time as we continue to grow our practice and support our clients with tailored solutions in a rapidly evolving insurance market.” Paas joins the firm following a ten-year tenure at Cresta Investments, where he most recently served as the organisation’s President.

Prior to that, he spent a year at QBE Insurance, serving as Global Head of Strategy, where he primarily focused on developing corporate strategies and overseeing cost-efficiency  and growth initiatives.Before he joined QBE Insurance, Paas spent over three years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he served as Managing Director and specialised in advisory, M&A, equity capital markets and debt, based in Zurich & London.He also held a similar role prior to that at Morgan Stanley for four years, where he was based in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
