
Aeolus Capital Management Ltd., the specialist insurance-linked securities (ILS) and reinsurance investment manager, has announced the hire of a new Reserving Actuary, with Jammy Chow joining the company from his most recent position working for Swiss Re Canada.Chow takes on the role of Reserving Actuary within the Aeolus Capital Management Portfolio Management and Analytics team.The company said he will assist the Chief Reserving Actuary, while also working closely with the Portfolio Management and Analytics team, to optimise Aeolus’ reinsurance investment portfolios.Chow most recently worked at Swiss Re Canada, the Canadian branch of the global reinsurance company where he spent 22 years.
He worked his way up through increasingly senior actuarial roles to become a Vice President for P&C Actuarial at Swiss Re Canada.Actuarial and reserving expertise is critical in management of large reinsurance and retrocession portfolios.Having strong skills in this discipline can help ILS managers to more efficiently deploy and utilise their capital and capacity over time.
